I thought it was time (since ive some free time nowadays) to switch to fantasy themed illustrations rather than sci-fi

I can tell you technical things about the skull such as it's very flat - which is fine, makes it Asian rather than Caucasian - just one of those things. However, even if the skull is more Asian, it's VERY flat and the cheekbones and teeth are huge while the eye sockets are small in comparison. Also, as an 'artistic' touch, you might have made the entire skull lighter and brighter to emphasis it and draw the eye a bit more - not much more, just a little.

Now that I've said that - it's all bullsh@#$. It's a very captivating piece and those were nitpicking items that really have no impact on the overall artwork. It was just for your edification, not as a true criticism. I mentioned them for only two reasons: one, you asked for a critique, not a pat on the back and two, when you do another piece with a skull, you might wish to keep those factors in mind. Overall, it's powerful, interesting and a great portfolio piece. I really enjoy your work. Good luck.

Oh, this is verily good. Excellent work. Armour is good. Lovely detail. But the sword.. The handle is rather short. If that is a short sword, it's a tad bit short for his build n' grip. If that sword's blade reaches the ground, the handle is entirely too short. Skull is.. flat.
