And what a beautiful warm up exercise this is, too! Amazing atmosphere and one huge scale this place has to offer judging by the person on the shore! I would just be happy if my water came out this good! A beautiful scape and one fantastical place to be sure! Another remarkable piece!

Oh,no its easy really once you get the idea in your head ready before you start painting.Really, planning ahead takes damn long compared to actual painting. If you want to speed up your process of painting, stick to 1 kind of brush through all the work.Just play with the opacity and colors. So you'll realize how much time it takes to change the brushes, and how it distracts you from the painting.Well, that is for the practicing at least.Once you get hold of mastering the general principles, you may start to use 100s of brushes.
Think it that way : have you ever seen or heard of a traditional artist with 450 brushes in front of him while making his oil paintings or watercolor pieces?? The less brushes you use, more natural it looks (if thats what you aim for)

Try to forget to paint the water with just blue..try to add the reflected colors on it, like the yellow/orange ( sun) turqoise ( hehe that name comes from my country's sea color hehe) ,green and even purple.Change opacity a lot so that these colors blend smoothly :)

Well, thanks for the tips! I am still just trying to get the actual form of water to look right...the waves and motion, etc. I have *so* much to learn with painting. *sigh* Perhaps in about 150 years I will get there! :D

Hmmm, that's a good point - I never thought of that. I will admit that taking the time to adjust the brushes is fairly time-consuming... I may have to give this a try. ^_^

Thanks for the tips!

At the end of the line there's just the time to realise.

Great piece of advice there, thank you.I tend to use too many brushes even for the simplest of tasks, i may need to do some actual traditional painting to get the feel of that.
