It is awesome. Grats on the "sketch". I just don't get why artists call detailed pieces "sketches" is it a false modesty thing or more like, "hey, you should see what I could do with some real time" sort of boast. It really is awesome work, but I would not call it a sketch. That's just me, hey what do I know. keep up the great work.
Thanks.I call it a sketch because i drew it quickly and without paying too much attention to detailing but to focus on ideas, forms, composition etc..However, while checking my previous works i see that people seem to like what i call sketches or speedies more than my finished pieces.I think because of the works' nature, they tend to have a more artistic feel to them and ppl like it that way... Thanks for pointing it out though, i've not thought about that way before.
Thanks for the reply. After rereading my comment I realize it may have come off snippier than I intended. I guess a sketch is my favorite part of a drawing so I am a bit of stickler for what I believe the term sketch encompasses. Also I would never in a million years be able to paint something as solid and detailed as your painting sketch. Maybe I'm just jealous :/ Respect yo, and keep em coming.
First of all, pay attention to perspective.Check some military stuff and CATs and airplanes and all those sort of things for some reference. The trick is to make an "illusion" of the pieces as if they have some real use and are fully functional. Also keep in mind that these kind of machines have lots of parts and they cast shadows on top of eachother thus creating huge blocks of shadows. Sketch out most part except the focal point (not only for mech but for most of the paintings) ; you don't need to draw every single screw or jolt , just give an impression of them existing there with tiny brush strokes.Add some scratches and stuff and voila !
I really like this! I love how the whole mech has a low center of gravity. I like the blade arm and the guns. I can imagine this mech in a large number of sci fi stories. Very creative and alot of good ideas, awesome mech!
